Drawing in: The art of manifestation & fantasy

Season Gallery, 92 Brick Lane E1 6RL, from the 5th - 13th November 2022

An exhibition of drawn stories by artist Ruby Bateman, spanning from allegorical feminist fiction (inspired by Norse Mythology on an artist residency in Iceland) and the narratives Bateman hopes to draw into being. Revealing these works and themes during the autumn season was a pertinent choice for Bateman and Season Art Director Emmie Hubbard. Over cups of tea and discussions on yinyang energetics, classicism and transformative drawing, they both found a common bond in grounding art in nature. Through this understanding, this exhibition aims to align with the introspective power of November; a fertile time to draw the energy inward, shed what is in excess and root-in dreams and fantasies.

UNITY

British and Ukrainian Art

The Art Unit, Koppel X 48 Piccadilly Circus, London W1B 5RA from the 14th-16th July 2022

This exhibition represents a cultural thread between the two countries. Creating impactful and meaningful connections between the artists, their works, and practices. The relationship that has developed between the UK and Ukraine in the past six months created an unbreakable bond.

The relationship has strengthened the political, social, martial, and cultural connections between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. We aim to develop that bond by bringing together the works of emerging artists from both countries and displaying them side by side as a display of the unity between two great countries.

International Women’s Day 2022, Private View The Bomb Factory South, London

This year’s Art on a Postcard (AoaP) International Women’s Day Auction has a stellar line up of female identifying talent and it being our third we can safely say it’s an annual event now.  This year’s line-up features the work of highly collectable female identifying artists ranging from emerging new graduates to world-renowned artists.

The AoaP women’s auctions focus on the work The Hepatitis C Trust does in women’s prisons. In 2022 The Trust will be expanding their women’s hepatitis C work beyond the prison walls into probation services and women’s centres, the money from this auction will help achieve this goal. It is The Hepatitis C Trust’s belief that many of the women incarcerated in the UK are there because of addiction and mental health problems and need help, not locking up.

London-based Artists Explore The Liminal Space Between Fantasy and Reality

Grove Collective, online VR viewing room exhibition, 2021

Grove Collective is pleased to present this upcoming group exhibition featuring artists Ruby Bateman, Thomas Conant, Grace Mattingly, and Liorah Tchiprout, on view online as an Online Viewing Room through the Grove Collective website from November 8th to December 8th, 2021. This is the first time that Grove Collective has worked any of these artists, and marks the first time that this group has shown together.

Fantasy and reality are often understood as polarities on an expansive spectrum, with the implication being that we as people can firmly understand when one ends and the other begins. However, this belies core facets of our collective modes of living: we use abstract thought to layer our lived reality with fantastically imagined ones, placing one atop the other, almost palimpsestically, to make sense of our experiences. With this in mind, the work of Bateman, Conant, Mattingly, and Tchiprout takes on a new gravity, although perhaps in more ways than initially meet the eye.

Domesticity and the feminine

Joséphine-May Bailey, Online Exhibition, 2021

A group exhibition in support of WOMEN’S AID featuring twenty four women artists. Associating the feminine with the interior and the domestic is a common (and outdated) way of conceptualising femininity. The artists included in this exhibition explore the complex rituals and moods of domestic experience as women, especially in the wake of COVID-19.

Intentionally continuing a dialogue with the artistic and feminist foremothers of the 1970s, the contemporary artists in Domesticity and the Feminine recast conventional ideas about women through sculpture, painting and installation.

Purslane Gallery, Online Exhibition, 2021

An online exhibition featuring the work of emerging artists responding to the theme ‘Acedia’. Proceeds going towards Just One Tree, an organisation combating deforestation.
